Alethio Therapeutics announced on November 5 that it has closed an oversubscribed Series A financing of 90 million dollars (67 million pounds). The round was co-led by Sofinnova Partners and RA Capital, alongside founding investor Oxford Science Enterprises, with support from Cancer Research Horizons and the University of Oxford. Endpoints News and BioPharma Dive reported the financing independently the same morning, which corroborates the single source flag raised against the item in the morning gap check.
The money takes Alethio from a preclinical company into the clinic. Proceeds will fund Phase 1/2a studies of ATX-011 in essential thrombocythaemia through to Phase 3 readiness, and progress additional programmes for myeloproliferative neoplasms towards an investigational new drug submission.
ATX-011 is a monoclonal antibody targeting G6B, a protein expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. It is designed to normalise platelet counts by selectively enhancing platelet clearance, and the company says the mechanism has potential for benefit irrespective of the driver mutation behind the disease. Essential thrombocythaemia is characterised by excessive platelet production and carries risks of thrombosis, bleeding, progression to myelofibrosis and transformation to acute myeloid leukaemia.
Preclinical data for ATX-011 have been selected for an oral presentation at the American Society of Hematology annual meeting in December 2026. That is the limit of the evidence today: the programme has not been tested in humans, and the size of the round reflects the syndicate’s view of the platform, not clinical proof.
