Indonesia's economy grew 5.47 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2026, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported on Thursday, beating the 5.18 percent median forecast in a Reuters poll and accelerating from 5.29 percent in the second quarter.
Why it matters: The upside surprise keeps the government's 5.4 percent growth assumption for the 2026 budget in reach and sits inside Bank Indonesia's 4.9 to 5.7 percent forecast range, even as investor scrutiny of Jakarta's fiscal plans has weighed on sentiment this year.

Indonesia’s economy expanded 5.47 percent from a year earlier in the third quarter of 2026, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) announced on Thursday, above the 5.18 percent median forecast in a Reuters poll and faster than the 5.29 percent recorded in the second quarter. The result keeps the government’s 5.4 percent growth target for 2026 in view, against President Prabowo Subianto’s stated goal of lifting annual growth to 8 percent by 2029.
