Spain tourist spending rises 8.1 percent in September

Rates Thursday, November 5, 2026 - Updated Nov 5, 2026 07:14

International tourists spent 14,488 million euros in Spain in September, up 8.1 percent on a year earlier, taking spending for the first nine months of 2026 to 114,380 million euros, up 8.0 percent.

Why it matters: Tourism receipts are Spain's largest services export and a direct support for the euro area's external balance; an 8 percent growth rate keeps Spanish services income outperforming the bloc's goods trade.
