ADNOC has signed a ten year sale and purchase agreement to supply up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas in total to Gujarat Energy of India, with deliveries starting in 2028. The cargoes will come from the international gas portfolio of XRG, ADNOC’s international investment arm, making this the first sale of molecules from that portfolio and ADNOC’s fifth LNG supply agreement in India.
The deal will be executed through the global LNG marketing and trading platform ADNOC launched in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026, which combines the marketing operations of ADNOC Gas and XRG with ADNOC Trading. The platform is targeting 47 million tonnes a year of marketable LNG after 2030. Gujarat Energy’s exchange disclosure links pricing to the Henry Hub index, according to Hindu BusinessLine reporting of the filing.
Gujarat Energy managing director Avantika Singh Aulakh said natural gas is central to India’s shift toward cleaner energy, supporting industrial efficiency, household cooking fuel and cleaner transport. The buyer, formerly Gujarat Gas, runs a city gas distribution network across 44 districts in six states.
The structure matters more than the size. Four million tonnes over a decade is a modest volume, but the supply is explicitly sourced outside the Persian Gulf and marketed through a new trading platform, while ADNOC’s Ruwais LNG project, with 9.6 million tonnes a year of capacity, is being committed to buyers across Asia and Europe. Earlier this week ADNOC Gas also agreed to supply up to 1.6 million tonnes to TotalEnergies over five years. Abu Dhabi is positioning itself as an LNG intermediary that can keep selling even while Hormuz flows are severely constrained.
