Eli Lilly and Hims and Hers announced an agreement on November 6 to sell Lilly’s obesity medicines directly through the Hims and Hers telehealth platform. Eligible patients who receive a prescription from a licensed provider on the platform can order Zepbound (tirzepatide) and Foundayo (orforglipron) without leaving the platform, at the same self pay prices available elsewhere: starting at 299 dollars per month for the injectable Zepbound and 149 dollars per month for Foundayo, Lilly’s daily oral medicine. Patients complete a consultation, receive a prescription if their provider judges it appropriate, and have the medicine shipped to their home.
Until now, Hims customers who wanted Lilly’s drugs were redirected to LillyDirect, the company’s own cash pay platform. The agreement gives Lilly parity with Novo Nordisk, which has sold Wegovy and Ozempic through Hims since March. Hims shares rose more than 7 percent in premarket trading on the announcement, according to Reuters, and closed the morning up about 4.7 percent.
The deal is also a settlement of the compounding era by contract. Hims previously built its weight loss business partly on compounded versions of GLP-1 drugs sold under legal loopholes, then changed course in March after a legal challenge from Novo. In the Lilly release, Hims stated it has never offered compounded copies of Lilly’s GLP-1 medicines and committed not to do so in the future. Neither company disclosed expected sales, patient volumes or the agreement’s duration, so the revenue effect is a distribution question rather than a priced one.
