Palestinian citizens of Israel after the election. Al Jazeera reported on Saturday that the record result for the Arab led parties in Israel’s October 27 election, 19 Knesset seats on an overwhelming Arab turnout, has been followed by what its interviewees describe as a loyalty test: Likud figures and the pro Netanyahu Channel 14 accusing the Arab parties of stealing the election through bribery, threats, violence and forgery, arrests including seven Bedouin men suspected of planning to pay people to vote for Ra’am, which denies the allegations, and a November 3 night raid arresting Jaffa journalist and activist Abed Abou Shehadeh at his home. Election chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg said on November 3 that the result reflects the voters’ will, and the results have been certified, facts this site covered on November 4. The crackdown framing, the preplanned campaign claim and the deep state language are Al Jazeera’s and its interviewees’, attributed here as such. No independent corroboration of the framing was found in this run, so this item is reported, not confirmed, and it is carried in the roundup only.
Auckland Central. On New Zealand’s preliminary count at 10:18 p.m. on election night, Green co leader Chloe Swarbrick led National’s Candace Kinser by 11,650 votes to 8,827, a margin of 2,823, with 63 of 104 results counted. It is one electorate in a tied national count, worth noting because Swarbrick’s hold is part of the electorate map that produced National’s overhang, and it remains preliminary, with special votes still to come before the official result on November 27.
